Easy Whole Wheat Banana Bread
Classic banana bread with gooey chocolate in the middle. And it’s whole wheat so it’s healthy, right?
WHAT YOU NEED
10.4 oz whole wheat flour
7 g baking powder
3 g baking soda
1 g salt
1 g ground cinnamon
3 very ripe bananas
4 tablespoons of light brown sugar
1 stick of melted butter
1/2 cup of Greek yogurt (I used vanilla flavored)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
HOW TO DO IT
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, whisk all of the dry ingredients together (flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon).
In a separate bowl, mash the bananas (you can leave them a little chunkier if you want more banana texture), and add the eggs, sugar, butter, yogurt and vanilla extract.
Add the wet ingredients into the dry and mix with a wooden spoon or spatula until barely mixed.
Add the chocolate chips and gently fold them into the mix.
Pour into a greased loaf pan (9" x 5") and bake at 350 F for 50 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean. *Based on your oven, you may have to adjust the baking time, but I think it will be around 45-60 minutes.
Let cool for 10-15 minutes and enjoy!
I love bananas! They are a great snack, breakfast, pre and post-workout munch, you can add them to milkshakes, make ice cream with them, grill them, fry them, and so much more. We always have bananas in the house and one of my favorite things to do with overripe bananas is to make my delicious banana bread. I have tweaked the recipe here and there and it's almost always changing depending on how I feel at the moment, but this one is pretty good. I like using Greek yogurt, whole wheat flour, and just a little bit of chocolate chips. Baked to moist perfection and you've got yourself a delicious treat that you don't have to feel guilty eating.
